Learn to teach News Literacy this summer at one of our workshops in

Stony Brook, N.Y. or Chicago, Ill.!

The Center for News Literacy is expanding its training program and we want you to be a part of it!  If you’re interested in bringing News Literacy to your classroom, and you want to meet other like-minded teachers while building your curriculum, then you should join us in July at one of our four specialized workshops.  Room and board is is provided by the Center for News Literacy, but a creative curriculum is up to you!

What is the News Literacy Summer Institute for Teachers?

Latino Oriented News Literacy Teach Training from 2014

Domestic Summer Institute for Teachers from 2011

The News Literacy Summer Institute is an intensive course that introduces teachers to the full 14-week News Literacy curriculum and gives them the tools to build materials matched to the new Common Core standards for any discipline from reading through statistics. Teachers attend classes and evening programs on campus at Stony Brook University, live on campus and – at the end of the course – present their fresh lessons to their peers.
